PostSubject: Forum Improvement?   Sat May 10, 2008 1:23 pm

I think this forum can further be improve. Why not share some ideas?

The very first I can think of is:
1) Allow the edit button so that posters like us will be able to edit our post.

Any more?

Regards

david says: suggestions for improvement are always welcome. as regards students editing their posts after they have appeared and been replied to, it is neither necessary nor desirable, for the following reasons:

1. the idea of the forum is so you can say what you want when you want. it's like a conversation, only in typing instead of speech.
2. whatever you say (type) is what you think at the time. if you change your mind later, you can always make a follow-up post. if it turns out that you said something that would put others on the wrong track, it is my job (not yours) to make sure the error is corrected.
3. you will notice i have edited several posts, including this one, by adding my comments in a different colour (and sometimes deleting parts of messages) - if you had edit privilege too, you would be able to change what i said Smile
4. as far as you are concerned, the forum is just a medium for open dialogue. students are not accountable for anything they say here [except for abusive postings].
5. whereas you are not accountable for what you say here, i am for what i say. if i make an error, i need to be able to correct it so that it will not give misleading information. but you dont need to be careful that what you say in the forum is clear and correct (you only need to be careful in your exam answers
Smile ).
6. you can if you want, correct any mistake you made by a follow-up reply. in my case, i need to get it right first time - and since i dont always get it right first time -
Embarassed - i need to be able to edit it.
