wikis are great!
wikis are collective knowledge. knowledge sharing is the way we humans have managed to conquer the world .... or destroy it, according to your opinion!
anyhow, we are taking a step towards a new direction in education.
instead of students being passive receptors of monologues from an appointed guru (the teecher), david's students have the opportunity to become active learners, seeking and sharing knowledge with each other.
wikis are an extension of the forum concept: in a forum each person has their say, but this is inefficient as often they say the same thing that someone else said before. or they say something that requires correction or modification.
with a wiki, corrections, additions and even wholesale reorganisation can be done collectively. you do it one at a time, but the end result is a collective effort.
if two people happen to want to edit the same thing at exactly the same time, the wiki software will tell them and sort it out with them.
